Garmin offers a free software update that allows you to update maps for your Nuvi 200 right from your computer.
Step 1
Open your web browser and go to the 'Garmin WebUpdater' website.

Click on the link 'Download the latest version of WebUpdater software' from the Garmin website. Follow the installation prompts to complete the software download.

Connect one end of a USB cable to your Garmin Nuvi 200 and the other end of the USB cable to your computer. The WebUpdater software will search automatically for any updates needed for your GPS.
Click 'Yes' if the WebUpdater notifies you that an update is available for your Nuvi 200 and you would like to install it. WebUpdater will install the software and alert you when it is safe to unplug your GPS device from the computer. If no updates are available, it will notify you.

If you like to use Mapquest to plan your trip routes or map your destinations, you can download these Mapquest itineraries and waypoints directly to your Garmin Nuvi device, eliminating the need to search for them again on your Garmin Nuvi. Most of the Garmin Nuvi devices are compatible for use with Mapquest, and this feature is free of charge.
Step 1
Go to www8.garmin.com/products/communicator and download the Garmin Communicator plug-in that allows you to connect your Garmin Nuvi with Mapquest and other sites. Follow the screen prompts to install the software and run it.
Step 2
Plug the small end of the Garmin USB cable to the side or bottom of your Garmin Nuvi and connect the other end of the cable to a USB port in your computer.
Step 3
Go to Mapquest.com and type in the destination you wish to download to your Garmin Nuvi. Open the map for the address you selected.
Step 4
Click on the 'Send' tab on the top of Mapquest's map display page and select 'Send to GPS' from the drop-down menu.
Highlight your Garmin Nuvi device in the pop-up window and click 'OK.' Mapquest sends your selected address to your Garmin Nuvi 'My Favorites' or 'My Locations' tab in the 'Where to' menu.
