I bought a 360 wired controller for windows off Amazon during the weekend and got the controller yesterday. I installed the Xbox 360 accessories 1.2 that came with the controller, restarted my computer and then plug in the controller with the drivers successfully installed. I tested the controller with Ultra Street Fighter 4 at first the controller was working but shortly after the controller stops responding to my inputs and my character will continuously move to the direction I pressed on the analogue stick. I had to press the face buttons to regain control and have the controller stop responding to my inputs again. The top left light on the controller is still on though.
I checked the device manager and my computer is able to recognize the controller which is Microsoft Common Controller for Windows Class with Xbox 360 controller for Windows under it. There is no exclamation point and the driver status is 'This device is working properly.' with the two driver files being System32/DRIVERS/xusb21.sys and system32/WdfColinstaller01009.dll.
I tried updating the driver but said the best driver is already installed. I tried by browsing my computer for the driver software and pick from a list of device driver on my computer and picked the latest device driver from 8/13/2009. I installed it and restarted my computer but the controller still doesn't work properly.
I looked everywhere on the internet to fix the problem, I tried reinstalling everything and getting the Xbox 360 accessories 1.2 from the MIcrosoft website and even tried to install it on a different computer but non of that worked. I was even told to install the Xbox One Controller driver but that didn't work.The only thing left for me is to either replace the controller or get another f310 controller which worked fine until I had replace it with the 360 controller I have now.
Update:
After testing it on other games like FF13-2 it worked for most part. The controller stopped responding until I plug it back in where I was able to the game with it. Rarely have the controller stop responding but wasn't noticeable enough to ruin my experience. I tried Street Fighter 4 again but the problem still persist and testing Dark Souls kinda works 75% of the time.
I think it has to do with the controller dealing with multiple inputs in a short period of time
